"A systematic process of measuring, recording and analysing an individual’s ability to perform activities in response to broadly defined work demands”. Mathieson,Trampsh,Isernhagen.
WorkHab has created one of the most versatile and cost effective Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) Systems in the world. Our team is dedicated to the development, provision and license distribution of this industry standard system.
The WorkHab FCE is an internationally recognised evaluation tool that enables a licensed evaluator to objectively measure, determine and report on the functional abilities of an individual in both the home and work environment. The system is predominately used to determine an individual’s safe and objective physical capabilities, establish and monitor rehabilitation goals, and to aid in return to work facilitation. It is also commonly used as a medico-legal tool and for disability assessments for the purposes of payment/insurance determination.
The system can also be adapted to provide a proficient and dynamic form of pre-employment screening which systematically fulfils legal requirements. It is particularly useful for assessing an individual’s physical capabilities in relation to a specific task/job analysis, and therefore their suitability for high risk and physically demanding positions.
WorkHab has also developed a condensed screening process which does not cover the full scope of an FCE. In reality an FCE can only be shortened to a particular point before it is no longer an FCE. By providing a comprehensive range of activities to test, an FCE is able to provide a full profile of the client’s abilities. These include work fitness, agility, body awareness, effect of pain, loads, upper an lower body abilities, perception of effort, heart rate, movement techniques, and the interaction of these parameters across a broad range of activities. If too small a range of activities is tested, the ability to analyse the data and make decisions based on this data, is reduced to a point where the FCE becomes a functional screening process, not an evaluation. WorkHab’s SFT (Specific Functional Test) is a brief screening version of a FCE which is ideal for testing and retesting specific tasks or functional activities where extensive data analysis and reporting are not required.
The evaluation protocols within WorkHab’s FCE System have been validated in peer reviewed literature. The entire protocol has been independently tested with the worker population and has been shown as significantly reliable. Validity is mandatory in order to maintain reliability.

We are also the first company within the Occupational Health and Rehabilitation Industry to design a web based data collection and reporting process. The secure online FCEase application ensures ease of data entry, and ensures the uniformity and professional presentation of results. This includes auto-calculation of required formulas and auto-generation of relevant graphs and tables. Every licensed WorkHab Evaluator instantly gains access to utilise this online application and receives unlimited technical support.
WorkHab is constantly evolving to ensure the needs of our clients are met and as new opportunities are created in the market. You can rest assured that, working with WorkHab you will benefit from the latest services, technology and developments in the industry.
