Each of the evaluation protocols within WorkHab’s FCE System has been validated in peer reviewed literature. The entire protocol has been independently tested with the worker population and has been shown as significantly reliable. WorkHab understands that reliability is essential in order to maintain validity.

The WorkHab FCE has been scrutinized by the New Zealand Government, the New South Wales Supreme Court System and the South Australian and Victorian Workers Compensation Entities. It has also undergone numerous successful legal applications in the USA insurance industry specific to disability determination, personal injury, and workers compensation.
Our system also meets Daubert’s criteria for evidence: In Daubert, the Supreme Court held that federal trial judges are the “gatekeepers” of scientific evidence. Under the Daubert standard, therefore, trial judges must evaluate proffered expert witnesses to determine whether their testimony is both “relevant” and “reliable”, a two-pronged test of admissibility.
Few Functional Capacity Evaluations actually have validity studies completed. The following publications may be helpful as they support the components of the WorkHab FCE and/or provide additional validity information about Functional Capacity Evaluations.
